Sheri

Role: Pre-production, post-production, distribution

Client: Alpacka Rafts

Sheri Tingey is many things: a dedicated mother, ski legend, expert seamstress, outdoor feminist, business leader, and innovator. This film is a snapshot of Sheri’s life, and how she defied the odds to build a company at age 50 that would revolutionize paddle sports forever. The idea was born after Sheri’s son, Thor, returned from a 700-mile traverse of Alaska’s Brooks Range with a dream of crafting a superior packraft. Sheri’s journey of overcoming chronic illness and the trials of being a female business owner challenge narratives about who belongs in the outdoors.

Q Stories brings together the threads that bind her remarkable story and traces her 60-year career in the outdoor industry. Sheri is a love letter documentary from all who have been impacted by her legacy. We speak to her family and community at Alpacka Rafts about her lifelong passion for design and iconic packrafts that have inspired thousands to explore the world’s wildest places. Sheri has toured film festivals around the world and received critical acclaim, including being selected as a finalist at 2022 Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival.
